The Narrative Lectionary was developed out of Luther Seminary about 8 years ago and looks at the bible from a narrative view. The lectionary cycle starts the Sunday after Labor Day with the Creation story and then follows the story of God throughout the Old Testament until arriving at the New Testament stories at Christmas. Then, each year in the four year cycle follows a different Gospel in telling the story of Jesus all the wat to Easter. At Easter, the narrative then follows the Book of Acts and the growth of the early Church, interspersed with excerpts from the epistles. The narrative ends each year with Pentecost. This year is Year 4 in the cycle, and will follow John’s Gospel when we arrive at it in the narrative.
Open Table will follow the Narrative Lectionary for the first time with Pastor Josh, starting with Creation by the Word Sunday on September 12.
