God Light with John Phillip Newell

Join us in the Saad Conference room for a session in Guided by Grace, Love, and Light
Dr John Philip Newell, author, poet, peacemaker, and scholar was Warden of Iona Abbey in the
Western Isles of Scotland, he is now Companion Theologian for the American Spirituality Center
of Casa del Sol at Ghost Ranch in the high desert of New Mexico where he and his wife spend
their summers.
Newell asks, “So what is this light that is being spoken of ?”
His breath filled all things
with a living, breathing light—
A light that thrives in the depths of darkness,
blazes through murky bottoms.
It cannot and will not be quenched. (John 1:4-5, The Voice)
You are a “showing of the Light of God.” Newell says, “The sacred light of God…
is the very essence of life…” The Light of creation and of restoration. This is the
Light that reaches others.
