Healing for eco anxiety and grief: the physicians’ perspective

This second in a series for 2021 Season of Creation will be a panel discussion centered around what physicians can do to help patients during this time, emphasizing the importance of outdoor activities and food for enhancing health. 

Lynn E. Yonge, MD, FAAFP, FAWM, University of South Alabama Emergency Medicine practices Family Medicine and was among the first physicians worldwide to be a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, and uses outdoor activities and nature as therapy and education.

Bob Israel MD, specialist in internal medicine, will present data and discuss his experience with the therapeutic benefits of going outdoors, more exercise, and more healthy eating habits as we encounter anxiety and dis-ease due to climate-related issues. He will also discuss the relationship between climate change and the Covid19 pandemic. 

George Koulianos MD, specialist in reproductive medicine, will address the issue of anxiety and uncertainty among young people over bringing children into this changing environment. He will also discuss his second specialty of growing produce in healthy and environmentally friendly ways.
