Holy Envy, Chapter 6: “Disowning God”

Join us for a time of meditation and prayer followed by a discussion of Barbara Brown Taylor’s Holy Envy. In her book, Taylor describes embracing more fully her own Christianity—albeit a gentler version—through her exploration of the other major world religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, and Islam.

Barbara Brown Taylor is an Episcopal Priest who taught comparative religion for many years at a college affiliated with the United Church of Christ, Piedmont University and describes herself as a writer, speaker, and spiritual contrarian who “says things I’m not supposed to say.”

This week we will have a time of prayer and reflection, share our joys and concerns, celebrate communion, revisit any last thoughts from the chapter on Judaism, “The Nearest Neighbors,” and also discuss Chapter 6, “Disowning God.” Rhoda will lead. Worship will be followed by the Annual Congregational Meeting.
