Wade in the Water

All are welcome to join our intercongregational gathering with Bethel AME for fellowship, education, sharing our diverse cultures, and refreshments. We regularly meet on the fourth Monday of each month.

Please mark your calendars for Wade in the Water’s next monthly meeting, Monday, June 24, from 6 – 8 PM, at Bethel AME, 714 Savannah Street, Mobile.

At this meeting we’ll watch the first hour of the Henry Louis Gates, Jr. documentary, The Black Church: This Is Our Story, This Is Our Song, which explores the 400-year history of the Black church in America. This moving film reveals how Black people have worshipped, and through their spiritual journeys, improvised ways of bringing their faith traditions from Africa to the New World, translating them into a form of Christianity that has been a redemptive force for a nation whose original sin was the enslavement of their ancestors.
