Winter Seed Starting Event

The Lower Alabama Native Plant Society is inviting all GCCC members and friends to a special winter seed starting event in the Jackson Heights neighborhood on Saturday, January 3rd from 12 noon to 4 pm. Here is their message:
Join us to learn about seed starting! We are going to use a method called “winter sowing” to germinate native plants and garden crops. Some seeds will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. This event is free, but it would help a lot if people can bring some materials. Not everyone needs to bring each thing, but bring what you can.
1. Potting mix, compost, soil, or another seed starting medium—we will need several bags of this
2. Containers with a clear or translucent top—this can be milk jugs, vinegar bottles, catering trays, plastic rotisserie chicken containers—larger containers will be more helpful than smaller ones, but bring something you can carry once it is full of soil
3. Masking tape
4. Sharpie markers
5. Box cutter knife
6. A cordless power drill.
